I will make a conscientious effort to shoot at least 3 times a week.
Taking photos of my friends and I in the club does not count.
Don't mind me, I live in Miami Beach and once lived in Barcelona and those 2 facts combined have convinced me that it is my right to make ignorant use of Spanglish.
Back to the point.....I am now officially enrolled in an Outdoor Portraiture photography class at the local community college.
It wasn't exactly the class I had in mind, but it was the only one that fit into my work schedule this term, and I'm anxious to get started on this whole devoting actual time to my hobbies thing.
Class starts Wednesday.
*Update: Class was cancelled due to low-enrollment. Bummer.
I ordered my first digital SLR yesterday, the Pentax *ist DL SLR. Thought long and hard about making such a jump, and which camera to go with. Overall I wanted a nice, entry-level SLR. I ordered it online to force myself to spend the next week or so catching myself up to speed with my newly acquired Digital SLRs for Dummies.
Initially I'd planned to go with the ever so popular, Canon Rebel, but the Pentax won on a couple of poitnts, a much more affordable price, and even more importantly, it uses an SD memory card. A small thing, but my most recent point and shoot, the Nikon S6, uses SD cards, and the Sidekick III, which is on the horizon, is rumored to have an SD slot. The interchangeability was important to me.
Plan to brush up and try and get fairly familiar with it before July 4th, when I head to Charleston for my cousin's wedding.
